Million Minute Read

Giving Georgia's Children 1,000,000 Minutes and Countless Opportunities

What is one thing that you can do this year to give children a greater chance to succeed in school? Join in The Junior Leagues of Georgia: Million Minute Read!   Through our shared commitment to children and their success in school, the Junior League of Atlanta and 11 other Junior Leagues from across the state have partnered to read 1,000,000 minutes to Georgia's children this year.

Any Junior League volunteer (profisionals, transfers, actives & sustainers) can participate by reading to children age 0 thru elementary school from now through April 2010.  To track your time go to www.jlatlanta.org, click on Million Minute Read under Community.  The password is "reading".  Be sure to use the drop down menu to select our League (Douglasville) and input the information requested, including how long you read, where you were and howmany children were present.

Project Spotlight: Book Brigade
The Junior League fo Douglas County is dedicated to inspiring underserved children with a love of reading, thereby enriching their lives and opportunities for success in the future. Our organization aims to help these children associate reading with pleasure and to promote the value of education and literacy. As a part of this program our league distributes a free book to all Douglas County 3rd Graders.  This has proven to be an enriching and rewarding volunteer experience and has touched the lives of hundreds of children.
